This is the first of a series of water themed dragon masks I'm hoping to be able to create. This is the "River Dragon" also called the "Mystique" mask due to its many details and whimsical movements.
This mask was inspired by the colors of mountain rivers and streams: blue, green, brown, and occasional bronzes.
This dragon mask is hand carved, sculpted and painted from 6 oz vegetable tanned leather and is rather lightweight and comfortable despite its size. This mask features five authentic male peacock feathers as well as a number of dyed rooster feathers. The cabochon in the center is genuine labradorite and is quite large and stunning. The colors of the labradorite remind me of the humble colors of mountain springs and streams and goes so well with the peacock feathers. All paint on this mask is metallic acrylic so it is quite shimmery and glamorous.
Lots of love and loads of time went into this piece. This specific dragon will NOT BE REPLICATED AND IS ONE OF A KIND! Get this work od durable, wearable art while you can! I will only reuse the pattern for the next dragon of the serious which will probably be the sea or snow dragon.
