Love Nouveau

A digital art piece I did about a month ago just to keep myself sane. I actually was going through some of my sketches and decided to color this one.

I love this couple. They are Prince Kamaen Emmenaria, High Prince and Oracle of the Drachen Empire in my novel, and Sarajha Emmen-Valyeroth, a commoner. The story of their relationship is an interesting journey or true love, sacrifice, and purity. Originally Kamaen was forbidden to marry since he is the Oracle (religious leader) of the empire. But he met this certain lady in the market who sells flowers and herbal medicines <3 <3 <3... Anyways, Sarajha was orphaned in her late teens (well...the Drachen equivalent of teens) and was left with her two young siblings to care for. She raised them with great help from her dragon, Elkanah, and had to work in the market by day and work as a bar tender at a tavern by night. A strong, gentle, yet wary woman she understands sacrifice well and her example actually teaches the prince. The two, despite their powerful love for each other, remain separate and pure as it is the best thing for their people. Their patience and self-sacrifice pays off as the Emperor vetoes the law banning the Oracle to marry. Kamaen and Sarajha are married and it ends up only strengthening Kamaen as the Oracle.

<3 these guys. They are the real troopers of my book...
